Bhubaneswar, 14th November 2023: In honour of the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the SCs and STs Research & Training Institute (SCSTRTI), Bhubaneswar, is set to observe “Janajatiya Gaurav Divas” from November 15, 2023, to November 26, 2023. A day before this celebration, SCSTRTI is hosting a State Level Tribal Painting Competition for tribal students from ST & SC Development run Schools. A total of 60 tribal students from both junior and senior Groups, selected through district-level competitions, are actively participating in this event from various corners of the state.
The inaugural ceremony of the State Level Tribal Painting Competition took place at the Auditorium of SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar, on November 14, 2023. Shri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Director, ST & Director SCSTRTI, graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the program. He provided words of encouragement to the tribal students, elaborating on the objectives of the competition. The primary goal is to offer a platform for these students to showcase their artistic talents and cultural heritage through the medium of art. Tripathy emphasized that the competition aims to promote and preserve the rich tribal traditions, instilling a sense of pride and recognition among tribal students.
Eminent Artists and Lecturers, Shri Manas Ranjan Jena, and Shri Chandrasekhar Sethi, Lecturer of B.K.College of Arts & Crafts, Bhubaneswar, graced the inaugural ceremony, inspiring the participants with insights into tribal painting. The coordination of the event was efficiently managed by Shri Samarendra Bhutia, Officer on Special Duty. Smt. Sagarika Priyadarshini, Deputy Director, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the State Level Tribal Painting Competition commenced, cantering around the theme “Tribal Lifestyle and Culture.” An esteemed jury will evaluate the paintings, and on November 15, 2023, during the inaugural ceremony of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, six students (three from each level) will be selected and felicitated.
