Making Odisha a Nutrition Hub :Minister Mr. Patro
Bhubaneswar,: United Nations World Food Programme(UN WFP) Odisha Chief Elisabeth Faure and World Food Organization Field Chief Officer Mr. HimanshuBal held a courtesy call on the State Government’s Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Mr. KrushnachandraPatro. The contribution of the World Food Organization under the umbrella scheme of United Nations in making Odisha a hub for food security is a unique initiative taken by both the state govt. and WFP.
It enhances the quality of food in regular diet of an individual which will contribute to nutrition, improved living standards and better health benefits in the state. All these know-how are readily available from other developed countries to India and especially to Odisha in particular through World Food Programme. Odisha government’s close collaboration with World Food Organization will help Odisha to ensure that nutritious vitamin-enriched rice (fortified rice) will help in eradicating malnutrition in the state said by Minister Mr. Patro in his speech.
Elisabeth Faure said that this partnership will continue with the United Nations World Food Organization and will promote Odisha as a center of excellence in the global market. During this discussion Special Secy. Mohammad Quamrul Haque and other dignitaries were present.
