Bhubaneswar, April 15: Subjects belonging to diverse domains including Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Deep Learning, Cloud and Fog Computing, Internet of Things and Evolutionary Computing figured at the 2-day first IEEE International Conference on Emerging Trends in Advancements and Applications of Computational Intelligence Techniques (ETAACT 2026) which was held at the SOA Deemed to be University here on April 10 and 11.
Conducted in hybrid mode, the conference drew global participation with researchers, academicians, scientists and industry experts attending the sessions. It served as a dynamic platform for exchanging cutting edge research ideas and fostering discussion on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in the domain of Computational Intelligence.
The conference was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, and technically sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and the IEEE Consumer Technology Society Chapter, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section.
The deliberations, which also included Neural Networks, Optimization Techniques and Security Technologies, featured distinguished speakers from across the world including Prof. Amitava Mukherjee of BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus, Prof. Somnath Tripathy of IIT Patna, Prof. Sung-Bae Cho of Yonsei University, South Korea and Prof. Bibhudatta Sahoo of NIT Rourkela.
The conference featured seven specialized technical tracks including Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic, Optimiztion Techniques, Applied Machine Learning, Security Tools and Blockchain, Search Engine and Information Retrieval, Cloud Computing, Parallel Computing, Federated Learning and Internet of Things.
Around 2000 research papers were received for the event including submissions from countries such as United Kingdom, USA, Thailand, UAE, Malaysia, Germany, New Zealand and Jordan.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, Prof. Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, Dean of ITER and Prof. Debahuti Mishra, Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The proceedings were conducted under the leadership of Dr. Rasmita Dash, Program Chair, with the assistance of Dr. Rajashree Dash, TPC Chair and Dr. Rasmita Rautray, Organizing Chair. The IEEE Bhubaneswar Section was represented by Dr. Niranjan Kumar Ray, Chair of the Consumer Technology Society Chapter.
Organisation of ETAACT 2026 in the city marked a significant milestone in fostering global collaboration and advancing research in Computational Intelligence further positioning Bhubaneswar as a growing hub of academic excellence and technological innovation.
