Berhampur, 15th April, 2026: In a significant step towards bridging healthcare gaps in remote regions, Mobile Health Dispensaries (MHDs) of TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) are bringing essential medical services closer to communities in the tribal heartlands of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and Rayagada districts of Odisha. Reaching some of the most inaccessible terrains, the initiative is ensuring that quality healthcare is no longer a distant reality for thousands of vulnerable families.

Equipped with a dedicated team comprising an MBBS doctor, nurse, pharmacist, and mobiliser, the MHDs provide free consultations, medicines, and doorstep medical camps. The initiative has already made a substantial impact, covering 3,23,675 beneficiaries across the four districts, reflecting its scale and effectiveness in addressing rural healthcare needs.

The outreach has been particularly significant in deeply tribal pockets, with 1,01,777 beneficiaries in Koraput, 1,06,155 in Malkangiri, 53,157 in Rayagada, and 62,586 in Kandhamal —demonstrating both scale and sustained community trust.

Further strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery, the initiative has conducted 1,213 health check-up camps, 843 awareness sessions, and 67 special health camps, focusing on preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and behavioural awareness around hygiene, sanitation, and nutrition.

A key highlight has been the organisation of six Mega Health Camps across the four districts, bringing specialised healthcare services to remote villages including Tallu and Chikima (Koraput), Badadural and Mudulipoda in the Bonda Khati region (Malkangiri), Srirampur (Kandhamal), and G. Dephaguda (Rayagada).

These camps collectively benefited 1,437 individuals in Koraput, 1,316 in Malkangiri, 1,750 in Kandhamal, and 694 in Rayagada, taking the total outreach under Mega Health Camps to 5,197 beneficiaries.

The health camps offered a comprehensive range of medical facilities designed to address both immediate and preventive healthcare needs. These included general physician consultations, dental check-ups, eye examinations, maternal and elderly care services, and screening for common illnesses. In addition, beneficiaries received free medicines, while on-the-spot diagnostic services—such as basic blood tests and health screenings—were provided through the Lab-on-Wheels facility, particularly in Koraput. This ensured early detection and timely medical intervention, which is critical in remote areas with limited access to healthcare infrastructure.

Special emphasis was also placed on senior citizen care, along with awareness on nutrition, hygiene practices, communicable diseases, and preventive healthcare, empowering communities with knowledge to improve long-term health outcomes.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Amit Garg, CEO TPSODL said, “Through our Mobile Health Dispensaries, we are committed to reaching the unreached and serving communities in the most remote tribal areas. The impact we are witnessing today reflects our continuous effort to build healthier, more resilient communities through accessible and preventive healthcare.”

The Mobile Health Dispensary programme stands as a testament to TPSODL’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that even the most remote tribal communities have access to reliable and quality healthcare services. It also highlights the collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals, field teams, and local stakeholders working together to create a lasting impact across Odisha’s tribal belt.
