ICAI Bhubaneswar: Governor of Odisha Inaugurates National CA Students Conference “Lakshya 2026”

Bhubaneswar, June 12: The prestigious National Conference of CA Students – “Lakshya 2026”, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India through its Board of Studies (Operations) and hosted by the Bhubaneswar Branch of EIRC of ICAI, commenced on Friday at the KIIT Auditorium in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and hundreds of Chartered Accountancy students from across India.

The conference was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, the Hon’ble Governor emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, ethics, and continuous learning in shaping the future of young Chartered Accountants, while encouraging students to contribute meaningfully to India’s growing economy.

The inaugural session was also attended by CA Rajesh Sharma, Chairman, Board of Studies (Operations), ICAI; CA Sanjib Sanghi and CA Ravi Kumar Patwa, Conference Directors and Central Council Members of ICAI; CA Hari Ram Agarwal, Chairman, EICASA of EIRC; CA (Dr.) Goutam Lenka, Chairman, Bhubaneswar Branch of ICAI; and CA (Dr.) Prithvi Ranjan Parhi, Chairman, EICASA Bhubaneswar, along with senior members of the profession and student delegates from different parts of the country.

Following the inauguration, the two-day national conference began with interactive and technical sessions designed to enhance the professional knowledge and practical skills of CA students. On the first day, sessions are being conducted on Direct Taxation, Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies, and Audit & Assurance, covering topics such as Income Tax Act 2025, taxation of virtual assets, AI-driven compliance systems, forensic accounting, fraud detection, and statutory audit practices. The day will conclude with a Cultural Extravaganza showcasing student talent.

The second day (13 June) will feature sessions on Career Opportunities Beyond Practice, Financial Reporting, ESG and Sustainability, India Growth Story 2047, Motivation and Professional Discipline, followed by special sessions on “Numbers and Narratives: Reimagining Lakshya” and the concluding Valedictory Session in the evening.

The conference has brought together more than 1000 aspiring Chartered Accountants from across the country and aims to provide a platform for learning, professional development, and discussion on emerging opportunities and challenges in the accounting profession.
