Medical PG Question Paper Leak Issue, Repeated question paper leaks in the State are happening because the Government has no control over the system: BJD

• 23 question paper leak incidents during the BJP Government’s 24 months in office
• The law brought by the BJP Government has failed to prevent question paper leaks
• The State Government must immediately investigate and take stringent action

Bhubaneswar, 31/07/2026: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today alleged that the repeated incidents of question paper leaks in the State reflect the State Government’s failure to exercise control over the system. Referring to the alleged leak of the Medical PG examination question paper at MKCG Medical College, the party stated that as many as 23 question paper leak incidents have surfaced during the 24 months of BJP rule in Odisha, clearly exposing the Government’s failure. Addressing a press conference at Sankha Bhawan today, MLA Dr. Arun Kumar Sahu and former Minister and BJD Vice-President Shri Pratap Jena strongly criticized the State Government.

Dr. Arun Kumar Sahu said that question paper leaks have unfortunately become a common occurrence in both the State and the country. While the Indian Premier League (IPL) has gained immense popularity in cricket, the recurring incidents of question paper leaks have become so frequent that people have started referring to them as the “Indian Paper Leak (IPL).” He stated that while such incidents continue to occur regularly in Odisha, allegations have now surfaced regarding the leakage of the Medical PG examination conducted by the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) on 27 July. According to the allegations, while the examination was in progress, the question paper was being circulated through WhatsApp across various mobile phones. Not only the question paper but even its answers were reportedly circulating on mobile devices.

Shri Pratap Jena stated that the NEET question paper leak had shaken the entire country, and while the public is yet to recover from that incident, the alleged leakage of the Medical PG examination question paper in Odisha has deeply disturbed the people of the State. Following the NEET paper leak, the Central Government approved the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, providing for stringent action against those involved in question paper leaks. Subsequently, on 6 December 2024, the Odisha Government also passed this law in the State Assembly. Despite the law containing stringent provisions against those involved in paper leaks, such incidents continue to occur repeatedly in Odisha.

Shri Jena further stated that during the BJP Government’s 24 months in office, irregularities have been witnessed in 23 examinations. He alleged that such incidents are recurring because the State Government has failed to maintain effective control over the system. The BJD had earlier cautioned that merely enacting a law would not solve the problem unless it was implemented strictly and accompanied by firm action against offenders. He said that despite the serious allegations surrounding the Medical PG question paper leak, the State Government has remained silent. He demanded that the Government issue a clear explanation, conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, and take stringent action against those found guilty.
