False news has been published in Odisha Reporter with the deliberate intention to tarnish Naveen Patnaik’s image : BJD

Bhubaneswar, 05/08/2026: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has strongly refuted a news report published in Odisha Reporter concerning BJD President and Leader of the Opposition, Shri Naveen Patnaik. The party has stated that the report is not based on facts and has been deliberately published with the intention of maligning the image of Shri Naveen Patnaik.

Addressing a press conference held today at Sankha Bhawan, the party’s Spokesperson and Media Coordinator, Dr. Lenin Mohanty, said that the report published yesterday in Odisha Reporter alleged that a resident of the Hinjili Assembly Constituency had requested Shri Naveen Patnaik’s intervention for the admission of one of his relatives to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment, and despite waiting for seven days, Naveen Patnaik had not extended any assistance. However, this report is not based on facts.

Dr. Mohanty clarified that on 28 July, the concerned person had submitted a letter requesting Shri Naveen Patnaik’s intervention for treatment at AIIMS. On the very same day, under the instructions of Shri Naveen Patnaik, his Personal Secretary wrote to the AIIMS authorities requesting them to facilitate the treatment of the concerned patient. It is a different matter that even after receiving the letter, the AIIMS authorities did not admit the patient.

In such circumstances, it is neither fair nor justified to allege that Shri Naveen Patnaik ignored a person from his own Assembly Constituency. Such allegations have been made solely with the intention of tarnishing the image of Shri Naveen Patnaik. Dr. Mohanty further alleged that the false report appears to have been published either with the objective of increasing TRP or to serve certain political interests.

It is noteworthy that following the personal intervention of Shri Naveen Patnaik, the concerned patient was admitted to AIIMS today and is presently undergoing treatment.
