Bhubaneswar: Standing in solidarity with lakhs of people in the flood affected regions across Odisha, Reliance Jio rolled out round the clock measures to maintain telecom network and ensure seamless connectivity to millions of customers during the natural disaster.
Keeping in mind the crucial role of seamless connectivity during natural calamities, Jio conducted Rapid Site Assessment, deploying field teams to assess site accessibility, tower condition, power availability and transmission link status followed by prioritizing critical sites based on network impact. Further working towards quick restoration of access to the sites, Jio odisha team coordinated with local administration and disaster response teams to clear blocked roads, use tractors, boats, or other suitable vehicles, and ensure safe access for restoration teams.
To ensure adequate power backup, Jio Odisha team made provisions for portable DG sets, refuelling of existing generators, quick replacement of damaged batteries, and restoration of commercial power in quick time to keep the towers operational. Additional vehicles were also deployed for timely DG fuel refilling and additional technical teams were mobilized from other CMPs to flood-affected areas for faster network restoration.
As several districts across Odisha were affected by the devastating flood, Jio mobilized teams of technicians with essential spare parts, tools, cables, and transmission equipment and tapped local labour wherever required to expedite restoration work, ensuring seamless connectivity. Maintaining a 24×7 readiness, Jio Odisha team ensured seamless connectivity in the flood affected districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir and Jajpur through relentless efforts and faster response.
As part of continuous monitoring and coordination efforts, dedicated War Room was established at Circle and Cluster Maintenance Point levels for continuous monitoring and faster decision-making for quick restoration. Through 24×7 Network Operations Center (NOC) monitoring, it maintained constant coordination with field teams, vendors, and local authorities, and provide periodic restoration updates until all affected sites are fully operational.
