Berhampur: Reinforcing its commitment to clean energy and a sustainable future, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) felicitated consumers and employees as ‘Green Champions’ on the eve of Independence Day. Total of 32 Nos. of consumers and 51 Nos. of employees were honoured for first solar connection beneficiaries & their efforts
respectively under PMSG:MBY scheme. Their contributions have significantly advanced the adoption and promotion of rooftop solar energy across Southern Odisha.
The organisation felicitated 32 consumers from eight districts (four Nos. from each District) of six circles of TPSODL for adopting rooftop solar and contributing towards a greener and more sustainable future. The recognition celebrates consumers who have embraced solar energy not only to reduce their electricity expenses but also to contribute towards reducing dependence on conventional sources of energy.
The employees were also recognised for their commendable efforts in supporting consumers throughout the solar adoption journey. From registration and documentation to facilitating installation, inspection, and commissioning & subsidy disbursement. Their proactive approach has played an important role in making the transition to clean and renewable energy more seamless for consumers.
Sharing his experience as a felicitated Green Champion, Muralidhar Panda, a consumer from Gunupur in Rayagada district, said, “This Independence Day, I feel very proud to be felicitated by TPSODL as a Green Champion. It gives me immense satisfaction that I am contributing towards a sustainable future for my society. I have installed a 3-kW solar system and have been able to save around ₹1,500–₹2,000 on my monthly electricity bills. I have also received subsidy support from both the State and Central Governments. Adopting solar has been a very rewarding experience for me.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL, said, “The Green Champions being felicitated, represent the collective spirit needed to accelerate India’s transition towards clean energy. TPSODL has received over 51,000 applications from consumers across Southern Odisha for rooftop solar installation, reflecting the growing interest and adoption of clean and renewable energy in the region.
