Kokrajhar, 19 September 2026: NTPC Bongaigaon paid rich tributes to Assam’s musical icon Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary through a Nahor plantation drive and a commemorative gathering organized under the aegis of the Employees Welfare Association.
Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, led the plantation programme near the Administrative Building. He was joined by Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, Heads of Departments, senior officials, employees and members of the association.
Nahor saplings were planted in memory of the singer whose music, compassion and unmistakable voice continue to remain deeply woven into Assam’s cultural identity. The plantation served as a living tribute to an artiste whose influence extended far beyond music and touched generations of people across Assam and the country.
In the evening, employees, family members and children gathered at the Community Mandap to offer floral tributes to Zubeen Garg. The simple and intimate programme provided an opportunity to remember his life, music and enduring connection with the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arnab Maitra reflected on Zubeen Garg’s rich legacy and his extraordinary ability to unite people through music. He said that Zubeen was more than a celebrated singer—he was a voice of Assam who carried its language, emotions and identity to audiences across generations.
Employees and children also shared their memories and spoke about the place Zubeen Garg’s songs hold in their lives. His music filled the gathering, turning the evening into a collective remembrance of an artiste whose work continues to live in the voices and hearts of the people.
The commemorative activities organized by the Employees Welfare Association brought together members of the NTPC Bongaigaon community in remembrance of a cultural icon whose music and humane spirit will continue to inspire generations.
