Shri Derhasat Basumatary Visits NTPC Bongaigaon’s Girl Empowerment Mission Centre

Bongaigaon: Shri Derhasat Basumatary, Hon’ble Executive Member, Health & Family Welfare, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), visited the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Centre at NTPC Bongaigaon and appreciated the power station’s efforts towards empowering young girls through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

During his visit, Shri Basumatary interacted warmly with the 50 participants of GEM 2026 and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with confidence, dedication and determination. He lauded the residential facilities, learning environment and holistic training being provided under the programme, stating that such initiatives play a significant role in nurturing confident, educated and empowered young citizens.

Shri Basumatary commended NTPC Bongaigaon for its sustained commitment towards the socio-economic development of the region and for creating meaningful opportunities for girls through education, life skills, health awareness, sports and personality development under the Girl Empowerment Mission.

As part of the visit, Shri Basumatary distributed educational kits and mosquito nets to the participants and extended his best wishes for their bright future.

He was accompanied by Shri Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon; Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR); Shri Roshan Dungdung, AGM (HR); and officials from the HR and CSR Departments, who briefed him on the various activities being conducted under GEM 2026.

The visit further strengthened NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to empowering the girl child and fostering inclusive community development in alignment with the national vision of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
