Tikiri: 19-06-2025 – As a part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare, Aditya Alumina Refinery today flagged off a month-long awareness campaign on the theme “Beat the Plastic Pollution”. This campaign aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of plastic use and encouraging the community to adopt eco-friendly practices. Mukta Devi Charitable Trust has been assigned with the responsibility as implementing partner for this campaign.

The initiative was officially inaugurated on 19.06.2025, marked by the flagging off an Awareness Van and a dedicated specialized vehicle for collection of plastic waste from the villages. In addition, a local drama group has been engaged to perform Nukkad Nataks (street plays) to sensitise the community on the theme. This Awareness Van will travel to 36 peripheral villages and spread the message of plastic-free living, responsible disposal, and sustainable alternatives.

To make the campaign more engaging and impactful, street plays (Nukkad Nataks) and drama performances are being organized in each village to educate and motivate residents through culturally resonant storytelling.

Mr. Mazhar Beig, Unit Head and President, Aditya Alumina Refinery shared his message that “This initiative is a significant step towards developing a sensitized community to make a cleaner, greener and healthier environment. Together with the community, we aim to make adopt eco-friendly practices for a healthy future”.

Mr. Kaushikisharan Mishra, Vice President, Mr. Deepak Mohanty, Head HR, Mr. Basudev Khuntia Head Finance and Commercial, Brig Vignesh Mohanty, Head Admin and Security and Mr. Tanmaya Mohanty, Head CSR were among the dignitaries present in the event along with the employees of Aditya Alumina Refinery.

Mr. Nageshwar Khoshla, President Mukta Devi Charitable Trust along with it’s trustee members and volunteers coordinated the event.
The event was witnessed by more than 300 person comprises of community members, opinion leaders and service partner employees of Aditya Alumina Refinery.
