Stunning Dress Design from Odisha ikat becomes the centre of attraction
Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice): Odisha-born and New York-based Bibhu Mohapatra designs costumes for ‘Washington National Opera’ at Kennedy Centre. The concert is the first one to reopen the national opera after two years. The concert is called ‘Come Home-Celebration of Return’, which premiers on November 6th, 2021.
Bibhu puts his homeland Odisha on the World Opera stage front and center by creating costumes out of Odisha textiles. An architectural dress out of black, white and red cotton ‘ikat’ from Odisha made for opera star Isabel Leonard. Orange and gold ‘ikat’ scarf and ivory Kotpad silk Nehru jacket for star Lawrence Brown Lee.
