Bhubaneswar- CSIR- Institute of Minerals and Materials technology, Bhubaneswar and CSIR-Sports Promotion Board is hosting 51st Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Tournament (Zonal) for cricket and volleyball during 24-26th November, 2022.
The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. S Basu, Director CSIR-IMMT in gracious presence of Dr. R. K. Sinha, Head, CSIR-HRDC and Secretary, CSIR-SPB as Chief Guest. CSIR-Sports Promotion Board member, Dr. B.P Bag, Organizing Secretary SSBMT Zonal Outdoor Tournament, Dr. B.C Tripathy were present as the guest of honour.
The Participating teams include CSIR-NIO, Goa, CSIR-NAL Bangalore, CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvanantapuram, CSIR-Madras Complex, Chennai, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore, CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur and CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh.
The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial cricket and volleyball tournament among national institutes of CSIR is a tribute to the foresight and establishment efforts of Late Sir Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar, CSIR’s first Director General.
Speaking on this tournament Prof. S Basu, Director CSIR-IMMT said “As you know the mental and physical activities are very important for human growth. So if our physical and mental health is good we can think rationally and do some work. He welcomed all the participants and thanked the sports promotion board for supporting. CSIR-Sports Promotion Board (CSIR-SPB) always strives to provide appropriate platform to practice the rituals for both mental and physical fitness through organizing various sports activities and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Tournament (SSBMT) is one such activity. CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar is hosting the zonal tournament.”
