Malkangiri(B Sribibas Patra) -DGP, Odisha Shri Abhay, and other senior Officers of State Police visited Malkangiri district today i.e. on 29.8.2020 and reviewed the LWE Scenario, Anti-Naxal Operations in the district, Anti-Cannabis initiatives of the district police and other issues. He interacted with the senior Officers of the District Police and CAPFs and reviewed the security response as well as developmental activities going on in the area. He Interacted with Police COVID Warriors and field officers doing very good work and appreciated their good work. He issued appreciation certificates to Corona Warriors who promptly joined duty after recovery from COVID.
Malkangiri District remains one of the traditionally strong bastions of CPI (Maoist). Despite progressive improvement in the situation due to proactive security response and developmental interventions, LWE menace remains challenging in parts of the district particularly in SwabhimanAnchal (cut-off area), TulsiDongri area and to an extent Kalimela area.
During the period from 2018 onwards, 10 hardcore CPI (Maoist) cadres have been neutralized in the district, 45 have been arrested and 34 have surrendered. Besides, large quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the hideouts of CPI (Maoist). Only recently, arms manufacturing unit of the outfit was busted by the security forces. The establishment of COB at Hantalguda in the month of December, 2019 and at Darlabeda in the month of March, 2020 has plugged the security vacuum in the SwabhimanAnchal to great extent. Further, the functioning of Jodambo Police Station from Jodambo has restored the faith of general public. Both Odisha and Andhra Police are working in excellent coordination in the district to curtail CPI (Maoist) activities.
As a part of the focused initiatives of the Government to bring a turnaround in the life and livelihood of the people of SwabhimanAnchal, road connectivity has been given top priority and several road projects have been taken up in the area. These are:
1. Badapada to Jantapayi (work completed)
2. Jantapayi to Jodambo (Single layer BT completed)
3. Jodambo to Guarasethu to Panasput (work is being started)
4. Janturayi to Gajalmamudi (metalling work underway
5. Darlabeda to Kutunipadar (metalling work going on)
6. Jantapayi to Papermetal to Dhuliput to Singabaram (metalling work in progress.
7. Hantalguda to Kadalibandha to Bandhaguda (metalling and BT work in progress.
The construction of roads has improved public transport and has also promoted other developmental activities like digging bore wells and undertaking construction activities. Medical facilities have also improved. Ambulance is now placed at Jodambo and Jantapayi, which has benefited the inhabitants of Swabhiman Anchal. Renovation of school buildings and construction of new Anganbadi Centres have been taken up. Few mobile towers have been installed in BSF camps at Pipalpadar, Darlabeda, Hantalguda and Jantapayi.
