Bhubaneswar : A webinar has been conducted over the topic of ‘cyber security’ in ‘Mo College Abhijan’. The webinar was chaired by ‘Mo College’ Chairperson, Shree Akash Dasnayak along with cyber security experts Shree Prashant Sahu and Shree Lingaraj Sethy. The main objective of this webinar was to educate people especially college students regarding various cyber crimes and how one can take precautions to not get affected by it. Many students hailing from different colleges across state presented several questionnaires as well as suggestions on cyber security. Near about 10,000students and faculties of 250 colleges joined the live webinar via Zoom, Facebook and Youtube.   

‘Mo College’ Chairperson Shree Dasnayak attended the complete webinar by discussing directly with students and cyber experts by highlighting the importance cyber security carries in 21st century.  He also stated ‘Cyber Security is one of the major key points these days. In this modern era of smart phones, we should definitely focus on cyber security. A little cautiousness can save us life, wealth as well as our self-respect in great extent.  Cyber security is indeed the call of the hour right now and we must educate people around us about it too.’

Cyber Expert Shree Prashant kumar Sahoo is one of the renowned cyber experts the state has and he has also given inputs on how a layman can stay out varieties of cyber frauds and harassments during the webinar. One should not randomly clicks on any unidentified links. Before setting out to any vacations or booking the tickets or hotels, no one should be providing information prior to it on online. Uploading personal pictures or information can turn into a boomerang for the user as well. One should not save any Debit/Credit card/Adhar/Pan card details on his smart phone. Use of any third party free apps or apps that displays ads in between can turn out leaking your personal information to ethical hackers worldwide. A very little caution and alertness can save you from getting trapped by Cyber frauds with ease. 

Shree Lingaraj sethy shared his view on turning cyber security as a career option in state. ‘Data sneaking’ is going to be one major problem worldwide in coming future and we must prepare ourselves for it. By uploading minimal personal data and by not using different free public Wi-Fi no matter how lucrative it seems to be. Cyber security is one of the biggest problems of this era and we can only end it by awareness on different forums. He also mentioned the toll free number of ‘1930’ in case any cyber fraud happens to you or people close to you.

Sradha Suman Khuntia of Maharshi Womens college, Shrabanee Samanta of BJB college, Shreeraj Nahak of Binayak Acharya college, Poonam Swain of Maharishi Women’s college and Anshuman Sahoo of Maharishi college of natural law, were among many who asked various questions throughout the webinar on Cyber security.

During the press meet post webinar, Shree Dasnayak stated, ‘‘we would be doing these types of awareness campaign in different colleges and university in coming future while keeping an eye on educating students on data breach and safety precautions from it. Students those who are willing to pursue career in cyber security, Odisha state open university has diploma(DCS) and Masters(MSCS) & post graduate(PGDCS) course available on ‘Cyber security’ to fetch their dreams as well’’ The webinar was ended with a Thanking note to all the participants and respective panelists by Smt. Chaitali Shome (IEC,Socialmedia Coordinator) of Mo College.
