Dhenkanal: In the name of development landmark trees are being raised to ground but the real reason is the economics being timber business. In a recent Facebook post noted socio-political leader and SNSMT Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy has re-raised the serious cause of concern about illegal felling of trees in the Kapilash forest range. Several activists echo the fact that while there are strict guidelines on felling of old trees by National Green Tribunal (NGT) but on ground they seem invisible. The climate crisis is a reality , everyone is talking about it but the action on it in Odisha seems to be far away.
It is learnt that this particular tree felling matter highlighted in the Facebook post of Shri. Suparno Satpathy is being heard by the High Court of Odisha and the District Magistrate as well as the District Forest Officer of Dhenkanal too are looking into this matter.
