Femina Miss India 2026: Contestants Celebrate Odia New Year at KIIT

Bhubaneswar, April 14: The Odia New Year was celebrated at the KIIT campus by the 30 qualifying contestants of the 61st Femina Miss India competition, immersing themselves in traditional Odia fervour.

Dressed in Odisha’s famous traditional patta silk sarees, they enjoyed authentic Odia cuisine along with the state’s traditional sweet delicacy chhena poda. Relishing the traditional Odia-style food, they appreciated the rich culture and heritage of Odisha. They also expressed their commitment to promoting Odisha’s glorious culture and traditions across the country.

The 30 state winners, who have qualified for the 61st Femina Miss India event scheduled to be held at KIIT on April 18, are currently staying on the KIIT campus. Femina Miss India 2024 Nikita Porwal also joined them during the celebrations.

In collaboration with the Odisha Tourism Department, the event is being held with the active support of Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS, aimed at promoting Odisha’s art, culture, and heritage.

The Femina Miss India competition is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in India, with various states competing to host it. It is a great honour that this event is being held in Odisha for the first time. The platform is being utilized to widely promote the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The contestants in the coming days will visit Puri, the Konark Sun Temple, and Chandrabhaga Beach to experience Odisha’s rich cultural legacy. They will also participate in heritage walks at Puri Beach and the Mukteshwar Temple.
