Hindalco’s Hirakud Smelter & Power and Aditya Aluminium honoured with prestigious Pollution Control Awards

Two recognitions from SPCB Odisha acknowledge excellence in pollution control and environmental management

Bhubaneswar, September 19, 2026: Hindalco Industries Limited, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, has received two prestigious recognitions from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha, for its commitment to effective pollution control, environmental stewardship and responsible industrial practices.
Hindalco’s Hirakud Smelter & Power was conferred the “Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026” in the Industry Category, while Aditya Aluminium, a flagship manufacturing unit of Hindalco Industries Limited, was honoured with the “MK Rout Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026” in the Industrial Township Category.
The awards were presented during the 43rd Foundation Day celebration of the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, held in Bhubaneswar on September 18, 2026. The awards were presented by Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Labour and ESI, in the presence of senior government officials, environmental authorities and industry leaders.
The ceremony was attended by Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department; Dr K Murugesan, PCCF & HoF, Odisha; Dr Manoj V Nair, Member Secretary, SPCB; and Prof Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor, OUAT, among other distinguished dignitaries.
The recognition conferred on Hirakud Smelter & Power acknowledges its effective pollution control measures and sound environmental management practices. The award was received by Shri Pratap Sahu, Plant Head, Hirakud Smelter; Shri Ardhendu Mohapatra, Head – Corporate Affairs; Shri Soubhagya K Tripathy, Deputy Head – Corporate Affairs; and Shri Ranjan Jena, Head – Environment.
Aditya Aluminium was recognised in the Industrial Township category for its effective pollution control measures and sound environmental management practices. The award was received by Shri Jagannath P Nayak, Unit Head, Aditya Aluminium; Shri Ardhendu Mohapatra, Head – Corporate Affairs; Shri Soubhagya K Tripathy, Deputy Head – Corporate Affairs; Shri Lalit Charan; and Shri Shyamlendu Mohapatra.
The twin recognitions reaffirm Hindalco’s continued focus on environmental responsibility, sustainable manufacturing and operational excellence. They also underscore the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental performance and promote responsible industrial growth in Odisha.
