Condemns police action against student protest; demands impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible
Jharsuguda, July 22: The Jharsuguda District Congress Committee staged a strong protest on Wednesday over allegations that police used batons against students protesting in New Delhi and detained opposition leaders who were demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET question paper leak issue.
Congress workers took out a protest rally through the town and assembled at the Mahatma Gandhi statue. There, they burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond as a mark of protest.
On the occasion, Congress leaders alleged that the NEET question paper leak had unfairly jeopardized the future of lakhs of hardworking students across the country. They demanded an impartial investigation into the incident, strict action against those found responsible, and respect for the students’ democratic right to protest.
They also condemned the police action against the student movement, calling it an attack on democratic expression.
