JHARSUGUDA, SEPTEMBER 07: A newly renovated canteen was officially inaugurated today on the premises of the Collectorate, Jharsuguda. Collector inaugurated the facility as the chief guest. The canteen has been established by completely renovating the old press room building, which had been lying defunct and unused for several years. Notably, following the inauguration of a dedicated, press room by the Collector a month ago, the vacated old structure was given a complete renovation and repurposed as a canteen. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector emphasized women empowerment and food hygiene, stating, “Our primary objective is to empower women and promote their financial self-reliance. This canteen provides Self-Help Group members a platform to showcase their skills while earning a steady livelihood. Utmost priority will be accorded to food safety, hygiene, and nutrition so that everyone has access to wholesome, safe, and quality food.”
The day-to-day operation and management of the canteen have been entrusted to the ‘Bimala Self-Help Group’ of Badheimunda, Jharsuguda. The facility will provide clean, hygienic, and nutritious food to staff members as well as visiting citizens in a timely manner and at subsidised, affordable prices.
The inaugural event was attended by Adm (General) , Adm (Revenue) , Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Biswa Ranjan Nayak, Sub-Collector , District Information & Public Relations Officer cum District Culture Officer Ritakanti Baliarsingh, and District Project Manager (OLM) Dr. Puspashree Nayak, along with other district-level officials.
