SBI General Insurance alerts customers to stay safe ahead of warning for Cyclone Asani in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh

Bhubaneswar: SBI General Insurance alerts its customers ahead of the anticipated cyclone Asani in the areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The low pressure developed in the South Andaman Sea and southeast of Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify the cyclone as per the MET department. Heavy rainfalls are expected this week in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The state officials have alerted their natural disaster teams and have kept them on standby.

In times of such natural calamities, SBI General Insurance requests all its customers to ensure the safety of themselves, as well as their loved ones.

Preventing loss or damage to your vehicle / home due to floods:

  • Park your car in a safe place where the ground level is high and there is no possibility of floods
  • Vehicle windows should be kept rolled up
  • Battery cable shouldbe disconnected
  • Avoid driving throughany waterlogged area
  • In case an unavoidable situation drive through higher part of the road
  • Use only the 1st gear and keep the acceleration high
  • Do not change the gear till you come out of the waterlogged area
  • Keep a hammer in the car to break the glass so that you can come out of car if vehicle is submerged when you are in the car
  • If car stalls in waterlogged area, abandon the car,and climb out of it.  
  • If your vehicle is submerged in water or it stalls in the waterlogged area, do not attempt to start the vehicle
  • Scrutinize your roof thoroughly and address any defect before the rain starts pour in
  • Avoid fungus and rusting in the doors and windows. Check for all the loose hinges and gaps in the doors and windows
  • Check the sewage and drainage system around your house and contact local authorities to look out for all possible blockages or leakages
  • Risk of electrocution also enhances during monsoon, check all the electrical fittings properly
  • Store up all the essentials and emergencies as heavy rains leads to floods which breaks the normal life and hence having a back-up.
