Jharsuguda, 05/09/2026: Teachers’ Day was celebrated in a unique manner with devotion, enthusiasm and fervour at DAV Public School, Jharsuguda. The celebration was organised under the chairmanship of the Principal, Laxmi Kanta Debta. On the occasion, a floral tribute was paid to the portrait of Dr. Survepalli Radhakrishnan by garlanding it with reverence. The three-day-long Guru Pujan celebration was organised with a special message of respecting and honouring the various forms of the Guru. On the first day, students, teachers and staff worshipped nature as their Guru and planted saplings in the school campus.

On the second day, students worshipped their parents as their first Gurus at their respective homes and sought their blessings. On the concluding, third day, all the students performed Guru Pujan by applying sandalwood tilak on the foreheads of their teachers and presented them with handmade greeting cards as a mark of love and gratitude. In his welcome address, Principal, Laxmi Kanta Debta extended his warm wishes and greetings on Teachers’ Day and called upon everyone to uphold the rich Guru-Shishya tradition. Senior advocate and member of the School Managing Committee, Tapas Kumar Roy Choudhury, along with his wife, Rekha Roy Choudhury, and Principal, Laxmi Kanta Debta along with his wife, Seema Debta, joined the celebration as special guests.

Addressing the teachers, Shri Ray Choudhury urged them to consider the noble profession of teaching as a form of worship and discharge their responsibilities with dedication and devotion. A number of cultural programmes were presented by the teachers on the occasion. At the end of the programme, gifts were presented to all the teachers on behalf of the school. The school also encouraged the students to respect and honour the teaching community, revere all elements of nature, and show due respect to their parents.
