Berhampur, June: Reinforcing its commitment towards environmental sustainability and community engagement, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) organised a large-scale beach cleanliness drive at Sonapur Beach under Tata Sustainability Month initiatives. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Forest Department with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and preserving the coastal ecosystem.
More than 130 employees from various departments actively participated in the cleanliness drive, showcasing collective responsibility towards environmental conservation and sustainable living. The initiative also encouraged teamwork and employee volunteering for community welfare.
During the drive, employees carried out an extensive cleanup operation covering the entire stretch of Sonapur Beach and collected nearly 250 kg of waste, equivalent to around 10 sacks. The activity significantly improved the cleanliness and hygiene of the beach surroundings while promoting responsible waste management practices.
Apart from the cleanup activity, participants also interacted with visitors and local community members to spread awareness on the importance of responsible waste disposal, reduction of plastic usage and protection of marine life and coastal biodiversity.
Speaking on the occasion, TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said, “Sustainability is not limited to policies or projects; it begins with individual responsibility and collective action. Our beaches and coastal ecosystems are valuable natural assets that must be protected for future generations. Through such initiatives, we aim to encourage environmental consciousness among employees and communities while contributing towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Odisha.”
Senior officials and employees participated enthusiastically in the programme, reflecting TPSODL’s continued focus on environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
