Burla, 23 October 2026 : TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has concluded its month-long participation in the Seva Setu Abhiyan, bringing rooftop solar assistance closer to communities across Western Odisha. Conducted from 17 September to 17 October, the initiative organised 44 camps across seven districts, reaching over 2,000 consumers and facilitating the resolution of over 300 consumer grievances. The campaign also supported rooftop solar adoption, with around 1,400 applications registered and 200 installations commissioned during the initiative.

The month-long campaign covered Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagada, Sundaragada, Baragada, Balangir and Nuapada. Through dedicated teams at the camps, consumers received assistance on rooftop solar registrations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and the Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model. Information on applicable central and state government subsidies, along with available bank financing options, was also provided to help households make informed decisions about solar adoption.

A key highlight of the campaign was a mega Seva Setu camp in Rengali, Sambalpur, which witnessed a large footfall. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Sambalpur attended the camp, encouraging residents to explore green energy solutions, including rooftop solar. TPWODL teams provided on-the-spot assistance with rooftop solar registrations, explained applicable subsidy benefits and addressed consumer queries, helping residents better understand the process and benefits of adopting solar energy.

Across its area of operation, TPWODL has facilitated more than 73,000 rooftop solar installations, including 33587 under the ULA model and 40023 under the CAPEX model, reflecting the growing adoption of clean energy among consumers across Western Odisha. In September 2026, thousands of consumers across Western Odisha recorded zero-unit electricity bills, under the ULA model and the CAPEX model. This highlights the potential financial benefits of rooftop solar adoption for households.

Launched on September 17 and concluded on October 17, the Seva Setu Abhiyan was conducted at the block level across urban and rural areas as a single-window service initiative. The camps aimed to bring essential administrative and utility services closer to citizens, providing an accessible platform for communities to resolve operational issues and explore clean energy solutions without having to visit utility offices..
