World Environment Day celebrated in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, IRO

Bhubaneswar : The World Environment Day, 2023 was celebrated in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Integrated Regional Office, Bhubaneswar. The celebrations started with a plantation programme where 75 indigenous plants were planted in the campus of the Integrated Regional Office by staff and children of the residential colony. A plastic cleaning campaign was organized in the office cum residential campus to ensure that the entire campus is plastic free. In the evening the function was celebrated in the community hall of the Integrated Regional Office, Where Shri Siddhanta Das, IFS, former Director General of Forest, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, graced the occasion as the chief guest and spoke about adopting healthy life style for environment. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Director General of Forests (Central), Shri A.T. Mishra, who spoke about the ‘Life Mission’. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Drawing Competition for school children on the theme “Life Style For Environment” by the chief guest. The winners were:

Trainees of Forest Training School, Ghatkia along with DCF (Training) Smt. Amita Das and ACF (Training, Smt. Sujata Ray attended the function. The trainees were felicitated for their active participation in the ‘Mission Life Campaign’. The “Meri Life Pledge” was administered by the Deputy Inspector General of Forests (Central), Dr. Padma Mahanti. Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. T.H. Mahato, Scientist ‘D’. The Chief Guest also planted a tree to mark the 75 year of Amrit Kal and commemorate the ‘World Environment Day-2023’. Saplings were distributed to the participants and general public. It was a colourful celebration with Environment Film show and display of painting of all the participants of the Drawing Competition held on 23.05.2023 at the community of hall of the Integrated Regional Office, Bhubaneswar.
