In a move to fight against COVID-19, East Coast Railway has started a week long Awareness Drive at all the Stations over its jurisdiction, Zonal Headquarters at Bhubaneswar, Divisional Headquarters at Visakhapatnam, Khurda Road, Sambalpur and other railway units like loco sheds, carriage workshop etc.
Inaugurating the week-long Awareness Drive, General Manager, East Coast Railway, Shri Vidya Bhushan said, “ECoR is playing major role in fight against COVID-19 by transporting essential commodities to the nook and corners of the country, carrying people to their destinations through Shramik and other Special Trains. During this pandemic situation, we should follow the precautionary guidelines for our safety whenever going out for any essential work. We should know and practice proper hand washing/sanitization, use of face mask, social distance; so that infection due to COVID-19 can be prevented. This pandemic is first of its kind in recent times, so everyone should be alert and take all the precautions.”
During the week long drive commenced from 1st July, 2020, awareness on Hand washing and use of Face Mask to contain COVID-19 infection are being emphasized. The purpose of this drive is to create awareness among the rail users and railway men about the preventive measures on COVID-19.
During the drive, demonstration is being done on proper hand washing and sanitization procedure, following ten step process. Apart from this, Face Masks were distributed to those who did not use Face Mask. Demonstration was done by the Railway Medical Director, Dr. A. Senapati, on proper way to wear the mask.
Liquid Soap and alcohol based hand sanitizer were provided at the entrance of the platforms and at other Railway establishments. Frequent announcements were made to aware passengers and rail users at all the major stations regarding importance of proper use of face masks, frequent hand washing, Social Distancing etc. in fight against COVID-19 infections. This programme was coordinated by PCMD/ECoR, Dr R K Pani.
