Tata Steel Recognised as Star Employer in the state by Government of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, September 17, 2025: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has honoured Tata Steel as one of the Star Employers in the state. Hon’ble CM honoured the steel major during the foundation laying ceremony of 27 new industrial projects in Bhubaneswar.

Yaswant Kumar Pandey, Chief Human Resource Business Partner – Steel, Tata Steel Kalinganagar and Rabindra Kumar Jamuda, President, Tata Steel Kalinganagar Workers’ union received the token of appreciation from Hon’ble CM on the occasion.

Odisha has been the largest investment destination of Tata Steel among its other destinations across the globe and the company has already invested more than ₹1 lakh crore in the state. The company, has provided direct employment opportunities to 16,833 persons in the state among which 9,374 persons are from Odisha.

The company has two major integrated steel plants at Kalinganagar in Jajpur ( including Neelachal Ispat Nigam Linited), and one in Meramandali in Dhenkanal apart from mining operations and ferro alloys plants across Odisha. Last year, it had successfully commissioned India’s largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar, with a total investment of Rs 27,000 crore in its Phase II expansion. It has augmented the total capacity at the site from 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 8 MTPA.
The steel major, through its CSR arm Tata Steel Foundation, has positively impacted 2.9 million lives in the financial year 2024-25 through interventions in Public Health, Education, Livelihoods, Gender and Community Enterprise, Infrastructure, and Tribal Identity.
