Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23: On the 22nd day of the ongoing Enforcement Special Drive, excise officials reported fresh seizures of contraband worth over ₹1.54 crore. A total of 199 cases were detected, leading to the arrest of 105 persons.
The crackdown resulted in the seizure of 8,012 BL of illicitly distilled liquor, 466 BL of duty-paid liquor, and the destruction of 95,240 BL of wash. Officials also seized 1,200 kg of Mohua flower and 14 vehicles used in the illegal trade.
Significantly, 11 cases were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, from which 131 kg of ganja, 305 grams of heroin, and 24 litres of codeine-based cough syrup were seized.
Authorities said the special drive will continue with a focus on disrupting supply networks and ensuring strict enforcement against repeat offenders.
