Union Bank of India Concludes Successful Women’s Hockey Match in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, October 25, 2025: Union Bank of India successfully hosted its Annual Women’s Hockey Match on October 24, 2025, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Continuing its commitment to promoting sports and empowering women, the Bank organized a friendly match between the Union Bank of India Women’s Hockey Team and the Sports Hostel, Rourkela.

The match concluded with an impressive performance by Union Bank of India team, who emerged as the winner with a score of 3-1 at the Women’s Hockey Match.

The event was graced by Union Bank officials Shri Asheesh Pandey, MD & CEO; Shri Srinivasan Varadarajan, Non-Executive Chairman; along with Executive Directors Shri Nitesh Ranjan, Shri Ramasubramanian S, Shri Sanjay Rudra, and other directors of the bank. The event was also attended by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Government of Odisha and Shri Suryavanshi Suraj, Hon’ble Minister of State(Independent Charge) for Higher Education, Sports & Youth Services, Odia Language, Literature & Culture -Government of Odisha along with the heads of various organizations based in Bhubaneswar, government officials, and the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Asheesh Pandey, MD & CEO, Union Bank of India, said, “Union Bank of India’s Sports Team represents health, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Shri Sampad Chandra Swain said, “I am happy to witness this friendly hockey match between Union Bank of India Women’s Hockey Team and Sports Hostel, Rourkela. Sports promote peace, unity, and goodwill among people and are integral to human life. Odisha has a proud legacy in Hockey, with the Kalinga Stadium being the venue for many international tournaments. I thank Union Bank of India for organizing this match, which is a commendable initiative towards women empowerment.”
