Bhubaneswar, Dec. 5: A three-day International Conference on Biotechnology for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy will be held at the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here from December 8 to 10 next.
The conference is being organised by the Center for Industrial Biotechnology Research (CIBR) of SOA in collaboration with the Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI), Prof. H.N. Thatoi, Conference Chair and Director of CIBR, said.
The event will provide a global platform for researchers, policymakers, industry leaders and academicians to share knowledge, present innovations and collaborate on initiatives which foster a sustainable and circular approach to tackling the challenges of the 21st century, he said.
The objectives of the conference are to deliberate on effective ways to nurture both start-ups as an entrepreneurship in relation to Industrial Biotechnology/Bio-business for promotion of circular economy.
The themes of the conference will include Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology (IEB), Food and Agriculture Biotechnology (FAB), Marine and Aquaculture Biotechnology (MAB), Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (MPB), Green-Hydrogen and Bio-fuel Biotechnology (GBB) and Circular Economy and Bio-business (CEB), Prof. Thatoi said.
Fortythree resource persons from 26 foreign countries are scheduled to attend the conference which will have three parallel sessions every day. The program will include plenary talk, invited talk, short oral, rapid oral and poster presentation. The event has been supported by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
Workshops on scientific writing will be organised during the event by leading and highly reputed academicians and scientists while a ‘Meet the Scientist’ program will be sponsored by the BRSI for school students. Besides, exhibitions by start-ups, industry and scientific suppliers will be organised, he said.
