NLC India Limited Strengthens Community Empowerment Through Skill Development Initiatives at NTTPP, Odisha
Jharsuguda: NLC India Limited (NLCIL), in line with its commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development of Project Affected Families, has successfully completed a Skill Development Training Programme for 30 youths from the project-affected villages of Tareikela, Kumbhari, and Tumbekela under the NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project (NTTPP) at Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The training programme in the Industrial Electrician trade was conducted by NLCIL in association with the Skill Council for Power, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Upon successful completion of the training, certificates were distributed to the trainees by Shri M. Venkatachelam, Director (Power), NLC India Limited, who encouraged the participants to utilize their skills for securing sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Further reinforcing its focus on skill development and employment generation, NLCIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) to provide skill training to local youth. The MoU was signed between Shri Santosh C. S., Executive Director & Project Head, NTTPP, and the authorized representative of AMHSSC. Under this initiative, 300 youths will be trained in the Self-Employed Tailor trade, enhancing both employment and self-employment opportunities in the region.
On the occasion, a fully equipped Anganwadi Centre was also inaugurated at the NTTPP Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Colony, reflecting NLCIL’s continued commitment to community welfare and holistic development of project-affected areas.

The programme was graced by the presence of senior officials of NLCIL, including Shri M. Venkatachelam, Director (Power), Shri Santosh C. S., Executive Director & Project Head, NTTPP, Shri Arivajan, General Manager (Project), Shri Prasant Kumar Barik, Deputy General Manager (Finance), Shri Sharat Chandra Behera, Deputy General Manager (HR), along with other officials and representatives of the Skill Councils.
Through these initiatives, NLC India Limited continues to create meaningful livelihood opportunities for Project Affected Persons, aligning its CSR and R&R interventions with national skill development objectives and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development in the region.
