Athletes of Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho HighPerformance Centreshine at 58th Senior National Kho Kho Championship
Bhubaneswar, January19, 2026: 17 athletes from Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre (HPC) delivered an outstanding performance at the 58thSenior National Kho Kho Championship, held at Kazipet Railways Stadium, Telangana during January11-15, 2026. The Odisha Women’s Team made the state proud by emerging as the runner up in the tournament while the Odisha Men’s Team secured the joint thirdposition with Kolhapur Team.
The Odisha Women’s team included eight athletes from the HPC – Archana Majhi, Subhashree Sing, Magai Majhi, Archana Pradhan, Harapriya Bhuyan, Sabita Murmu, Lisarani Raita and Kadambini Majhiwhile the Odisha Men’s team included eight athletes from the HPC -Arjun Singh, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, Pabani Sabar, Papu Marndi, Sunil Patra, Vishal Oram, T. Sankar and Siba Gunta. One more athlete of the HPC, Sameer Adiwal, represented Madhya Bharat team.
Throughout the championship, the HPC athletes displayed exceptional teamwork and an unyielding determination reflecting the coaching and guidance they received at the Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho HighPerformance Centre.
The Odisha Women’s Team produced a commanding run to the final, remaining unbeaten through the league stage, pre-quarterfinal, quarterfinal and semi-final matches. In a thrilling finale, Odisha missed out on the championship by just one point, losing 23–22 to Maharashtra.Adding to the pride of the HPC, Archana Pradhan was adjudged Best Defender of the tournament, showcasing Odisha’s defensive dominance.
The Odisha Men’s Team displayed remarkable consistency, winning all league matches along with their pre-quarterfinal and quarterfinal fixtures before suffering a close defeat in the semifinal against Railways, who eventually became the tournament champions.For the joint third position, Odisha went head to headwith Kolhapur in a thrilling Minimum Chase Match.
