One Lakh Seed Balls Dedicated to Mother Earth for a Greener Tomorrow: Aditya Alumina Refinery Celebrates World Environment Day
Kashipur : Aditya Alumina Refinery, Kansariguda, A Unit of Hindalco Industries Limited Celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment towards environmental sustainability. On this special occasion, the refinery dedicated one lakh seed balls to Mother Earth, which were carefully prepared over the past two months by village women, promoting both environmental conservation and community engagement. These seed balls were made using eco-friendly materials such as cow dung and a variety of forest-based seeds to support natural afforestation. The company has also initiated a month-long programme involving community members, employees, and their families to spread these seed balls and raise awareness about environmental protection.
The celebration also included a range of engaging activities such as pot making, rangoli, drawing, bag painting, and quiz competitions, with active participation from children, employees, and their families. Winners of these competitions were recognized and awarded, encouraging environmental awareness through creative expression. Additionally, a plantation drive was conducted, during which more than 500 saplings were planted to enhance the green cover in the region.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Mazhar Beig emphasized the company’s strong focus on environmental protection and conservation. He highlighted that sustainability is a core value of the organization and stressed the importance of collective efforts in preserving nature. He also spoke about ongoing CSR initiatives such as the Prani Dhan Seva Prakalp, which supports animal healthcare and contributes to maintaining ecological balance. Furthermore, he mentioned the installation of solar-powered drinking water systems to reduce carbon emissions and the revival of perennial streams to ensure water sustainability.
