KIIT Climbs to 4th Position in India in Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026

Bhubaneswar, 24th June: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Deemed-To-Be-University (KIIT-DU) has securing an impressive 4th position in India among both government and private institutes in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, up from the 5th position last year. On a global scale, the University has been placed within the prestigious 101–200 cohort.

In this edition, KIIT was ranked across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notably, the university clinched the 1st position in India for three distinct goals: SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Furthermore, KIIT secured the 2nd position nationally for SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), while maintaining top-10 positions national ranking across all remaining SDGs.

KIIT’s impressive performance, driven by its visionary leadership Dr Achyuta Samanta, underscores the underlying commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This achievement highlights the institution’s dedication to moving beyond policy to ensure the tangible implementation, measurable advancement, and real-world impact of the SDGs.

Times Higher Education publishes rankings based on societal impact in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in addition to the World University Rankings.
