PRINCIPAL OF ODISHA ADARSH VIDYALAYA, TH. RAMPUR, DISTKALAHANDI ARRESTED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS.10,000/- FROM AN SHG FOR FACILITATING RELEASE OF PENDING BILLS TOWARDS CLEANING WORKS.
Bhubaneswar / Bhawanipatana : Sri Sitakanta Rana, Principal of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya, Th. Rampur, Dist-Kalahandi has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a functionary of an SHG for facilitating release of pending bills for 3 months in the current year 2026-27 towards cleaning works. For some time past, the functionary had been requesting accused Sri Rana for clearing the pending bills. But, Sri Rana demanded bribe Rs.10,000/- to clear the pending bills. Unable to pay the demanded bribe, the functionary (Complainant) reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Rana.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 22.07.2026, wherein the accused Sri Sitakanta Rana, Principal of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya was nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office chamber for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a functionary of an SHG.
The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Rana in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Rana gave positive chemical reaction, confirming taking and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Rana at Bhabanipatana and his office chamber.
Accused Sri Sitakanta Rana, Principal of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya, Th. Rampur, Dist-Kalahandi has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.17 dated 21.07.2026 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
