Jharsuguda, Odisha; 24thAugust 2026: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, organised the valedictory ceremony of the latest batch of traineesat thecompany’s Vedakshata Skill Development Centrein Jharsuguda. The event celebrated the successful completion of the comprehensive,industry-aligned Food & Beverage trainingprovided to 30youthsfrom the district.

The ceremony was presided overbyMr. Amit Kumar, from Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), Jharsuguda. Addressing the graduating trainees, he congratulated them on successfully completing the programme and encouraged them to leverage their newly acquired skills to build successful careers.

Vedakshata is one of Vedanta Aluminium’s key skill development programs in Odisha, focused on enhancing employability and livelihood opportunities for youth from local communities. Designed to equip participants with practical skills, workplace readiness and professional competencies, the programme currently prepares young individuals to pursue emerging employment opportunities in the hospitality and mobile repair sectors.Through industry-relevant vocational training, hands-on learning and career-oriented mentorship, the programme seeks to bridge the gap between local talent and evolving market requirements.

Since its inception, Vedakshata has trainedover 90youths, enabling many to secure employment and pursue sustainable livelihood opportunities. By aligning its training programmes with industry needs, the initiative continues to contribute to skill development and economic empowerment in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, C Chandru, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium -Jharsuguda, said, “We believe that empowering young people with relevant skills is integral to building resilient communities and a future-ready workforce. Through Vedakshata, our endeavour is to provide local youth with industry-relevant capabilities, practical exposure and the confidence required to translate their aspirations into meaningful careers. Wearecommitted to strengthening the skilling ecosystem in Odisha and creating more pathways towards community self-reliance.”

Sharing his experience under the Vedakshata programme,Jasoda Budula, from Pudheidhi,Kirmira Blockin Jharsuguda said, “The training at Vedakshata has helped me understand the Food & Beverage sector in an in-depth manner and has improved both my professional skills and confidence. The programme has prepared me to explore employment opportunities with greater clarity, and I look forward to applying what I have learnt as I begin my career.”
