Thailand ready to foster connect with Odisha

Konark: In a spectacular showcase of Odisha’s cultural and historical treasures, the 5th Odisha Travel Bazaar 2024, organized by the Tourism Department of Odisha and FICCI, witnessed the participation of esteemed foreign tour operators from 14 countries and representatives from 17 Indian states. The highlight of the event was the Familiarization (FAM) trip that immersed the delegates in the grandeur of Odisha’s heritage.

The journey commenced at the iconic Sun Temple in Konark, where the foreign tour operators marveled at the architectural brilliance and cultural significance of the 13th-century marvel. The Srimandira Parikrama Prakalpa provided an immersive experience, allowing participants to witness the spiritual fervor surrounding the revered Jagannath Temple.

The exploration continued with visits to the ancient Buddhist complexes of Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri, and Udaygiri, where the delegates delved into the rich history of Buddhism in Odisha. The Heritage sites in Bhubaneswar added a modern touch, showcasing the harmonious blend of tradition and urban development.

Against the backdrop of the mesmerizing landscapes, the Eco Retreat in Konark served as the hub for networking and cultural exchange. The picturesque venue set the stage for discussions on promoting Odisha as a premier tourist destination.

To gain insights into Odisha’s hospitality, a group of tour operators opted to stay at hotels in Puri. This allowed them to experience firsthand the warm and welcoming hospitality that defines Odisha.

The event aimed not only to showcase the diverse tourism offerings but also to foster collaborations and partnerships between Odisha’s tourism industry and international travel agencies. With participants hailing from various corners of the globe, the 5th Odisha Travel Bazaar 2024 reinforced the state’s position as a must-visit destination, offering a unique blend of ancient heritage, spiritual sanctuaries, and modern amenities.

In a heartening development for international tourism, a delegation of tour operators from Thailand expressed their keen interest in fostering connections with Odisha after a captivating visit during the 5th Odisha Travel Bazaar 2024.

Enthralled by the cultural richness and historical splendor of Odisha, the Thai tour operators were quick to recognize the potential for a meaningful cultural exchange between the two countries. Their journey began with a mesmerizing exploration of the Sun Temple in Konark, leaving them in awe of the architectural marvel that stood testament to India’s ancient glory.

On this occasion, MD of Exoress International, Mr Suthm Sachaphimukh said that, “This is great opportunity to connect with people and extend tourism to Odisha. We is very happy to be here with our all Bangkok colleagues. Our Thailand and Indian agents are also present here.”

Vice President of Indian Association of Thailand Somsong Schpmukh said that, “Most of Thailand people have faith on Buddhism. Odisha has lot of Buddist sites. So I promote and advocate Odisha as a tourism destination in Thailand.”

Nuanchan Pientam of NC Tour and Enterpris, Thailand said that, “I love Odisha. It is a beautiful place. Buddhist circuit can not be complete without Odisha. My company have sent many group of tourist to various Buddhist sites of Odisha and other parts of India. Currently we have direct flight between Bangkok and Bhubaneswar. Our tourist are appreciated it. I hope India can connect direct flight to major Buddhist sites of the country.”
