Achyuta Samanta Conferred Honorary Doctorate by Karnataka University, Dharwad

Bhubaneswar, April 23: Dr. Achyuta Samanta, noted educationist, social worker and founder of KIIT and KISS, was conferred the Honorary Doctorate by Karnataka University Dharwad. He received the honour during the university’s 75th Convocation Ceremony, marking the 71st honorary doctorate awarded on him.

The recognition was conferred in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution towards societal development through education.

The honorary degree was presented by Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including M. C. Sudhakar, Higher Education Minister of Karnataka; Padma awardee A. S. Kiran Kumar, former Chairman of ISRO; and A. N. Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the university, among others.

Karnataka University, Dharwad, is an 80-year-old educational institution in the state. The university’s Academic Council and Board of Management had recommended Mr. Samanta’s name for the honorary doctorate, which was later approved by the Governor.

Dr Samanta was accorded a warm welcome by university officials upon his arrival at the airport.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Samanta thanked the authorities of Karnataka University, Dharwad. He stated that he has been continuously working in the fields of education and social service for more than three decades, and that the honour will further inspire him to continue his efforts in these areas.

He also expressed his gratitude to the staff of KIIT and KISS for their relentless efforts, dedicating the honour to them in recognition of their contribution.
