Berhampur, June 2026: With the monsoon season approaching Southern Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has intensified its preparedness to tackle possible challenges arising from heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning. The company has undertaken a series of proactive measures to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply across its operational areas during the upcoming rainy season. Special focus has been given to strengthening emergency response systems, network resilience, and consumer support mechanisms. Through technology-driven monitoring and strategic deployment of manpower and resources, TPSODL is fully geared up to respond swiftly to any monsoon-related exigencies.

Considering the geographical challenges of Southern Odisha, including dense forests, remote hilly regions, and difficult terrains, TPSODL has strengthened its emergency response systems and network infrastructure to effectively manage any monsoon-related exigencies. The company has adopted a proactive preparedness strategy focused on faster restoration, enhanced monitoring, and improved consumer support services during the rainy season.

A dedicated frontline workforce comprising 5,925 personnel has been strategically deployed across the company’s six operational circles, supported by emergency vehicles and additional manpower for rapid restoration activities. To strengthen emergency response capabilities, six mobile distribution substations and two tower wagons have been positioned at strategic locations to address outages and disruptions caused by tree falls or adverse weather conditions.

TPSODL has also stocked critical emergency materials such as poles, conductors, and LT AB cables at strategic levels to avoid delays during restoration works. Additionally, 25 ASKA lights and 19 DG sets have been made available in each division to facilitate uninterrupted repair and maintenance work during night hours.

As part of its network strengthening initiative, the company has already installed 2,529 interposing poles across its operational area. A key highlight of this year’s preparedness is the drone-based survey of 11kV and 33kV lines, enabling early identification of vulnerable points, particularly in remote hilly and forest regions.

To ensure continuous monitoring and operational efficiency, the Power System Control Centre (PSCC) at Berhampur and Area Power System Control Centres (APSCCs) at Rayagada, Phulbani, and Jeypore are functioning round-the-clock. These centres are monitoring 252 nos. of 33/11 kV primary substations in real time through an advanced SCADA system.

Consumer service mechanisms have also been strengthened with IVRS-enabled systems, SMS alerts, and a dedicated missed call service (9777774699) to keep consumers informed about outages and restoration updates. In addition, TPSODL’s 24×7 call centre services through toll-free numbers 1912 and 1800-2026 are ensuring prompt consumer assistance and swift emergency response.

Further reinforcing its commitment towards service quality and transparency, TPSODL continues to publish reliability indices such as SAIFI and SAIDI online. A dedicated 33kV control desk has also been activated to ensure seamless coordination among departments, even in the most remote locations. Backed by technology-driven preparedness and a resilient workforce, TPSODL remains committed to delivering reliable and efficient power supply throughout the monsoon season.

Commenting on the preparedness measures, TPSODL CEO Mr. Amit Kumar Garg said: “Monsoon brings unique operational challenges in Southern Odisha, especially in remote and vulnerable regions. Keeping this in mind, we have strengthened our field preparedness, emergency response systems, and network monitoring mechanisms well in advance. Our teams are working round-the-clock with advanced technologies and adequate resources to ensure faster restoration and reliable power supply for consumers throughout the season. At the same time, we urge consumers to remain alert and follow electrical safety precautions during heavy rains and storms.”
